What a Stupid Idea

So, remember our garden that took FOREVER and a day to put in--chipping out cement, hauling railroad ties, tilling, planting, etc? Well now it's big and we have a problem.
I was so excited to be "The Little Red Hen" but we decided to plant zucchini. Actually, I decided to plant it. Jeremy had no say whatsoever. I wish he had, because then I could blame him for our all our problems.
THEY JUST KEEP GROWING!!! THEY NEVER STOP--EVER! This is just from this week. I'm so tired of sauteed zucchini and summer squash. I have good recipes for zucchini brownies and bread, but seriously this is a joke.

I just had my 10 year high school reunion last weekend and they had a silent auction at the dinner. I wish I would have put some zucchini into the auction. I would have been happy with a $5.00 loss.

Does anyone want any zucchini?

My Favorite Boys

I just wanted to share some pics of my favorite boys.

This is Will enjoying Jeremy's birthday breakfast, waffles with strawberries and whipped cream.
This is Carter in his Thomas the Train helmet; which he wears everywhere and has tried (unsuccessfully) to wear it to bed on numerous occasions.
This is their daddy celebrating his 28th birthday. I can't believe I married someone so young! At least he's cute.

So, my silly sister, RoseAnna, tagged me like two weeks ago and I'm finally getting around to it. Here it goes.

1. I really like cereal and eat it just about every single day of my life.
2. I hate going to bed. I always have and I probably always will. I like sleeping, but I just hate going to bed. I'm sure that's where Carter gets it from and it's really annoying that I've passed on such an aggravating trait.
3. I don't like zucchini and we planted one in our garden and now we have so many zucchini that I want to cry.
4. Sometimes I really miss being in school. I miss putting my brain to use. I think one of my favorite parts from You've Got Mail is the bouquets of sharpened pencils part:)
5. Speaking of You've Got Mail, I LOVE LOVE LOVE romantic comedies/love stories. Who doesn't, though...
6. I love to play games, Boggle, Scategories, Cranium, and Trivial Pursuit are some of my favs.

Following the Crowd

I finally decided to read the books that EVERYONE else is reading/has read. I have been resisting for about a year, but last week my curiosity got the better of me and I'm glad it did. I LOVE THESE BOOKS!

I thought this one started out rather juvenile and kept complaining that I just wasn't hooked. But then I got past the first three or four chapters and all was lost.This one was incredibly cathartic for me. My heart actually hurt like everything was happening to me, not to a character in a book. I stayed up until 3:30am to finish this one.I just finished this book last night and I loved it. I loved the growth the characters experienced and the things they learned about themselves. I appreciate the triumph of moral character over the natural man. It's nice to read an exciting book where beloved characters choose the right--or at least try their best.
It's nice to have something to look forward to since the wizarding world of Harry Potter is finished. (On Saturday, my dad said, "Don't worry, I won't tell Harry Potter that you're cheating on him." He thinks he's so funny.)

Happy Birthday to my sweetheart, my better half, my knight in accounting armor, my best friend, my everything. I love you! You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I thank God everyday that you're mine. Happy Birthday!

Happy Independence Day

I love the Fourth of July, it's one of my favorite holidays. I love everything about it, except the 100 degree weather--but at least we have air conditioning. I am grateful to be an American. I know America has tons of problems, most of which don't have an immediate solution, but it's still the best nation on earth. I hate that we don't say the Pledge of Allegiance more, I love it so much and my eyes well with tears almost every time I hear the National Anthem. I thank the brave men and women who have fought/are fighting to keep our country free from oppression and evil. I am grateful for the men and women who labored to organize our country and create a fair system of government. When Jeremy and I came home from France after being there for almost a month, I wanted to kiss the ground when we landed in New York. I don't love politics and I'm annoyed with the upcoming election and disappointed by the candidates--but I love America. God bless the land of the free and the home of the brave.
