Happy Very Late Birthday Grandma Diane! We love you and miss you!

It's canning season and I've been spending a lot of time canning beans, tomatoes, tomato soup, salsa, peaches and pears. So I haven't really posted for a while. Here are some pics of the kids... ...playing Battling Tops with Great Grandma Barker...

Koolaid Play Dough

1 cup boiling water

1/2 cup salt

2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

1 pkg. Koolaid powder (no substitutions)

1 cup flour

Add salt to boiling water--add other ingredients, stirring to form a ball. Let cool until you can handle it. Knead until smooth. Keep in a Ziploc bag in the fridge.

A Day of Labor

Our Labor Day weekend was everything the name suggests, labor. We started out early Saturday morning building our new shed. Just because you buy it at Home Depot and it comes in a box with instructions does not mean that it's easy. Especially since if the two people assembling it have an average height of just under 5'5" and happen to be an accountant and a wannabe French professor. The beginning.
Carter helping everyone by using a screwdriver set as a pan flute so he could be like Peter Pan. He spent most of the day challenging people to a sword fight using wrenches.
En guarde Will! Not quite three hours into the project--the box said it should take approximately three hours total. Boxes are liars. The finished project, six hours after starting time.

On Saturday evening and Monday morning and afternoon, Carter and Jeremy got to help Burdette and Grandpa JJ work on the deck they're building.

**Monday night, we worked in the yard for a couple of hours, picked a bunch of tomatoes and after the boys were in bed, Mommy and Daddy made and canned 8 1/2 quarts of tomato soup (email me if you want the recipe, it's absolutely FANTASTIC!)

We hope everyone had a great weekend and we want to send a shout out to our buddies, Peter and Adam, and congratulate them and their parents on the arrival of their new sister!
