Pumpkins

We went to the pumpkin patch on Saturday and found some awesome pumpkins for our front porch. Most of them were still a little green which we thought made them look even spookier.

Happy Halloween!

Survival of the Fittest

Note: They're cute--that's the whole problem.

Morning

It's morning in the afternoon,

So eat your bacon with a spoon.

And if you have a scrambled egg,

You can feed it to your leg.

Then drink your milk up with your nose

And hop right into daddy's clothes.

Put your left shoe on your right.

It's time to start the day

Good night.

It's Mom versus the kids this week. I'm afraid the kids are already winning.

Cheers.

Our Family Tree is Full of Nuts

I took my little kidlets to my grandmother's house today to hunt for nuts. Their yard is full of black walnut, English walnut, pecan, hazelnut, and chestnut trees. What little boy wouldn't LOVE that?
Will proved to be a very fine walnut collector while Carter specialized in pecans and Chinese chestnuts (the kind that roast on an open fire a la Nat King Cole). The Chinese chestnuts are extremely prickly on the outside and you need very specialized nut collecting gloves (pictured below) when collecting them.

Great-Grandma is also a very good nut hunter and helped the boys learn what the different nuts look like and Will learned what sheep poop looks like that that it is not a pile of small nuts.
The boys and I had a great time with our very special grandma.

Carter with his very special nut gathering/regular garden gloves. He was fairly frustrated at the lack of licorice in the pasture and kept insisting that we were done with nuts. We had to have a chat tonight about being polite and kind and making people feel like we enjoy being around them for reasons other than licorice.

Will with as many walnuts as a little boy can hold. They come in surprisingly large shells with green/black husks that make them bigger than golf balls. Perfect for little hands.

While the cat's away, the mice will play.

Our darling children spent the weekend with their exciting cousins from back east--Vernal. While their parents escaped to Park City for about 17 hours. They had a fantastic time and did all kinds of fun things, like:
pretending to be an old man,

wrestling and playing,

wearing the coolest glasses ever!

They both found it very difficult to "look" at the camera with their googly glasses on. It was priceless.
Thanks to RoseAnna for taking care of our children and thanks to Clay for making pancakes.
